Designers who hit that sweet spot between form and code are currently called “Super Designers.” Such designers are in high demand. They understand how to solve problems using design thinking, how to develop exciting new forms and how to turn form into function through front end coding. Using available online tools, these designers subvert the traditional design process by moving quickly to working prototypes. And they do all this while connecting with their peers using social media. Super Designers understand that in order to respond quickly enough to our instant demand culture, they must have the skills to reach out to the larger community and solve projects together. In other words, “Hello hacker mentality.”

You want to be a Super Designer? Join us at Miami University for the MFA in Experience Design.  Through coursework, independent projects and workshops with a multitude of visiting designers learn to build frameworks not products, embrace rapid prototyping, and make the construction of community a core focus of your work. Blur boundaries between the physical and digital as you join computer science students to take on projects through Miami’s new Augmented Reality Center—a center embedded within the MFA studio space.
